Hello, my Imperfect Warriors!
Welcome to January!!
Even though things are still not back to the normal we once knew, doesn’t it feel good to start a new year? Remember, you don’t need a new year, but there is definitely an awesome feeling to one.
I’m going to continue on the topic from my last post and talk about setting yourself up for a great year. In 2019, Marie Forleo did a short video series on her Decade in Review process. I watched it and did the steps she laid out and felt like it really helped me start of the year focused. Then I took what she explained in the video and created worksheets not only for the decade review but also for doing a year in review. And over the course of 2020, I completely forgot about them. Until I received one of the many email newsletters that I am signed up for.
I was so excited for a workbook to use to reflect on my last year and how I can set myself up for success. Once I opened the link I realized the workbook is almost exactly what I learned from Marie Forleo and the worksheets I created. Granted, her workbook looked WAY better than mine and I only looked at the first few pages, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is that I already had what I was looking for.
And since I remembered what I had created to share with you, I wanted to share it again. I even did my own video in January 2020 to walk through the process and what I wrote down then. I realized that I had what I needed and I went and found my own PDF files and downloaded and printed them. Before I did, I updated it this year to also include the thought prompts from 2021. You can download and print my Year in Review 2.0 worksheet from my resources page.
If you reflect on your previous year, you can identify areas for growth or areas that you kicked ass with. This reflection isn’t meant to beat yourself up. It’s meant to help you reach your goals.
If you don’t use my worksheets, I hope you will find a method of reflection that works for you. Reflecting on your year, your month, your week, whatever, will help you to see where you are doing awesome and where you need to make some changes.
Now, we are a few days into the new year and you might be thinking, eh, it’s too late to do a reflection. YOU ARE WRONG! Yes, I just yelled at you. It is only five days into the year, it is most definitely not too late to do a reflection on 2020. Truthfully, you can reflect on anything you do, so there is no reason to brush off reflecting on how last year went for you. Even if you don’t like what you didn’t accomplish. 2020 was a rough year for a whole hell of a lot of people and it’s okay if that is how your reflection looks. What counts today on January 5th, is how you live your life today and every day after today. Reflect on what did or didn’t work and get your ass in gear and make 2021 a great year, whatever that means for you.
